Why is anyone NOT a democrat?

I was born a democrat into a family of democrats. It's like religion. My grandfather worshipped FDR and I worshipped my grandfather, so that's it. Also, I subscribe broadly to the tenets of the platform of the Democratic party. I could be a Green, perhaps, if they can increase their presence, but I don't go for those sying they are "independent" and vote willy-nilly without regard to the underlying party platform. I'm not saying I would never vote for a Republican, but I have yet to even be tempted.
