Regulation and Tolerance is Key!

I come from a very conservative region and family, so I know how much I disdain it. I am very much democratic and very much seek someone else that feels that way too! It irks me to see conservative practices although there is not much I can do considering there are others that think otherwise. I am a democrat because I believe people should be allowed to have free reign over their life decisions (such as gay marriage etc. etc.) as long as the good of society is not harmed. Also, I believe large businesses and things like the environment, foreign aid, and things of that sort should all be regulated (the latter two increased of course!). And I guess the final big reason is I am secular, and the conservative right tends to want religion to rule us, which I really do not like.
